Provincial Priory of Improvement
All knights of the province are cordially invited to attend the meetings of the Provincial Priory of Improvement (PoI).
In recent times, these meetings have been undersubscribed and it is hoped, following the Provincial meeting, to encourage Bro Kts to attend on a regular basis and whereby the P of I will have a more distinct and exact purpose, and hence this communication.
It is intended to promote the P of I as a ”safe space”, in which brethren may “have a go” without fear, trepidation or embarrassment.
The Instructing Preceptors will offer help, advice and guidance throughout the sessions. The PofI will regularly rehearse the Opening, Installation of a Knight and the Closing of a regular Knights Templar Preceptory. At this stage, it is not envisaged rehearsal of the Malta degree.

At each meeting, volunteers will be requested to “have a go” at:
• The Charge,
• The Year of Penance,
• The Cup of Memory,
• The Mystical Stone and
• The Symbols.
Brethren will be most welcome to apply to the Registrar in advance of a particular meeting to perform any of the above. In the event of more than one volunteer coming forward for the same piece of ritual, then due to time constraints on the day, consideration and priority will be given to the Bro Kt. whose preceptory meeting is imminent. Also, further volunteers will be sought to fill and “have a go” at the various offices of the order.
The dress code will be casual clothing. The only regalia required will be Mantle, Swords, Belts and Gloves. Further, bring your ritual book with you!! The Instructing Preceptors will have no objection to you using it to assist yourselves on the day.
The time, date and venues for the meetings are on the first Sunday of every month from September through to March at the Rushden Masonic Hall, Wellingborough Road Rushden. The meeting commences at 11am. The Instructing Preceptors and the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard often meet at the blue Corner Café in Rushden for breakfast before the meeting you are more than welcome to join us.
If it is preferred and there is demand for it, then Saturday’s may be considered. Also, it may be possible to hold meetings for Preceptory Marshalls to hone their skills. Additional meetings for the Malta Meeting hosting Preceptory can also be arranged to practice the ritual and movements.
