The NHB Provincial Executive
Provincial Prior
Right Eminent Knight Roger Wortley was Installed as a Knight of the Order in The Ampthill Preceptory No. 260 in March 1991, and subsequently served two years as Eminent Preceptor from 1995 to 1997.
A founder of Sir Richard de Montfichet Preceptory No. 601 in March 1995, he served as Eminent Preceptor in 1998. As the Founding Registrar Of the George North Body Guard Preceptory he served in the office of Registrar from its consecration in 1998 until 2002. He also joined Peter George Preceptory of Past Preceptors in 1997, serving as Eminent Preceptor in 2007.
Appointed to the RE Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard in 1991, he served as a member until 1997 when he received his first Provincial Appointment to Provincial Standard Bearer (B). He became Provincial Registrar in 2000 followed by Provincial Vice-Chancellor in 2002. He continued in that capacity for 10 years until his appointment as Sub-Prior in 2012. RE Kt Roger Wortley was appointed as Provincial Prior in April 2018.
Provincial Sub-Prior
Very Eminent Knight Stephen John Churchill was Installed as a Knight of the Order in Kingsbury Preceptory No. 557 in October 1991 and served as Eminent Preceptor 2000. Malta degree in United Priors Priory 240 in 1992. A founder of Hugh De Payens Preceptory No. 681 in March 2010 as Founding Marshal.
He joined Peter George Preceptory of Past Preceptors in 2012, serving as Marshal from 2014 to 2018. Appointed to P.Gt.A.deC. in 2011. Promoted to P.Gt.Her in May 2018. Promoted to Past Great Registrar in 2023
Appointed to the RE Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard in 1994, he served as a member until 2000, when he received his first Provincial Appointment to Provincial Standard Bearer (VB) in 2001, then becoming Past Provincial 1st Constable in 2006 followed by Provincial Dep Marshal in 2012, then Provincial Marshal in 2014 continued in that capacity until his appointment as Sub-Prior in April 2018.
Vice-Chancellor
Eminent Knight Russell Laxton was Installed as a Knight of the Order in the Norman Wright Preceptory No. 513 in February 1998, with his Malta degree in in June 1998. He served as Eminent Preceptor in 2005.
He joined Peter George Preceptory of Past Preceptors in 2005 and served as Eminent Preceptor in 2014. Appointed to P.Gt.A.-de- C. in 2017, he was promoted to P.Dep.Gt.Swd.B. in May 2018 and promoted again to Past Great Herald in 2023.
Appointed Treasurer of Norman Wright Preceptory in August 2012 and received his first Provincial Appointment to Provincial Standard Bearer (B) in 2007. Became Provincial 2nd. Constable in 2011, Provincial Registrar in 2016 and Provincial Vice-Chancellor in 2017.
Provincial Marshal
Eminent Knight Nigel Dickens was Installed into the Victory Preceptory No. 207 in Jan 2014 – becoming it’s Eminent Preceptor in 2022.
Soon after joining the Order he became a member of the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard, becoming its Deputy Commander in 2016 and then Commander in 2018. He was Installed as the Eminent Preceptor of the George North Preceptory, the Bodyguard Preceptory, in 2017 and received his first appointment to Provincial Rank, as Past 1st Herald, in 2018. He is also a member of the Peter George Preceptory – where he is the Marshal.
In 2020 he was appointed as the Provincial Deputy Marshal and then became the Provincial Marshal in April 2023, when he was promoted to Past Provincial 2nd Constable. Appointed to P.Gt.A.deC. in 2024. He is a founder member of the Preceptory of Barthélemy de Quincy No. 647, a Warwickshire Preceptory, reponed in 2022 – which is the Preceptory for present and past Great and Provincial Marshalls.
