Northampton, Huntingdon and Bedford Province of Knights Templar – Summer Sunday Lunch
On Sunday, 10th August 2025, the Northampton, Huntingdon and Bedford Province of Knights Templar held their Summer Sunday Lunch at the Masonic Hall, Griggs Centre, Sheaf Close. A total of 55 Knights and guests gathered for what proved to be a most enjoyable occasion, featuring fine dining and an enlightening talk from the Royal Images group.

The afternoon began with drinks in the bar, followed by a delicious three-course meal in the dining room. After lunch, the Provincial Prior, R. Em. Kt. Stephen Churchill, welcomed Mike O’Keefe, Custodian of the Royal Image Library, who gave a fascinating presentation about the Library and the process of producing and selecting official portraits for HM The King and HM The Queen.

Guests were treated to a display of striking portraits, photographs, and memorabilia of Their Majesties, as well as items featuring the late Queen Elizabeth II and the late Duke of Edinburgh. Mr O’Keefe described his role in organising photographic sessions and working with the Royal photographers. To the audience’s surprise, he revealed that despite managing these prestigious occasions, he had never personally met the late Queen.

At the close of the presentation, R. Em. Kt Churchill presented Mr O’Keefe with a cheque for £200, donated to the Bedfordshire MCF 2026.

The afternoon concluded in high spirits, with all present leaving with a greater appreciation of the artistry and precision involved in Royal portrait photography.
