United Priors 240 Centenary
In October 1925, the Knights Templar Preceptory Number 240 of Huntingdon was formally established and consecrated the following January 1926. One hundred years later, that same Preceptory marked its Centenary at the Masonic Centre, Sheafs Close, Northampton. On 21st February 2026, Brother Knights from across the Provinces of Northampton, Huntingdon, and Bedford gathered to celebrate this remarkable milestone.
The meeting was opened by the Eminent Preceptor, E.Kt. Rob Taylor, who warmly welcomed the Provincial Prior, R.Em.Kt. Stephen John Churchill, Past Provincial Prior, R.Em.Kt. Roger Wortly, Provincial Prelate, V.Em.Kt. Tony Avery, Acting Provincial Officers, the Provincial Priors Bodyguard, and numerous distinguished guests.
Following the usual preliminary proceedings, Companion Danny James Clark was balloted for membership and duly Installed as a Knight of the Order, in a manner exemplifying the high standards of the Preceptory.
Once the Installation was complete, the Eminent Preceptor invited the Provincial Prior to take command of the proceedings. He led the Centenary ceremony with distinction, ably supported by the Provincial Marshal, E.Kt. Nigel Dickens, and other Brother Knights of the Province.
A comprehensive history of the United Priors Preceptory, spanning the past one hundred years, was presented by E.Kt. John Hodgson. A ceremonial booklet was presented to the Provincial Prior and made available to all Knights in attendance.
Due to the dual ceremonies—the Installation of the new Knight followed by the Centenary celebration—the Festive Board began slightly later than planned. Nevertheless, the meal and celebrations were enjoyed by all, with the Provincial Priors Bodyguard once again demonstrating their camaraderie and spirit, making the occasion truly memorable.
