Victory Preceptory Opens Its Doors to Royal Arch Companions

On 28 January 2025, Victory Preceptory proudly opened its doors for the first time to welcome Companions of the Royal Arch, marking a significant and memorable occasion.

The Eminent Preceptor duly opened the Preceptory, after which the Second Constable was announced and formally escorted into the Preceptory by the Provincial Body Guard. Following greetings and the completion of the Preceptory’s business, the meeting was called off. An impressive Arch of Steel was then formed by the Body Guard, through which the Companions were ceremonially escorted into the Preceptory by the Chancellor, Stephen Wood.

A series of informative and engaging presentations followed:

  • Pro-Marshal Nigel Dickens spoke on Modern Templar Freemasonry and the Province

  • E.Kt. Norman Pope delivered How It All Began

  • David Murray presented The Fall of the Templars

  • Steve Dowdy spoke on the Order’s chosen charity, The St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital

The Provincial Prior, Steve John Churchill, then addressed the Companions. He reminded them that any Companion who has been a member of the Royal Arch for four weeks or more is eligible to join this remarkable and historic Order of Knight Templar.

The evening continued with an outstanding Silent Drill Display by the Provincial Body Guard, which was received with great admiration.

An Arch of Steel was again formed as the Companions were escorted from the Preceptory. The meeting was then called on and closed in due and ancient form, in accordance with the ritual.

The Festive Board that followed was thoroughly enjoyed by Companions and Knights alike. The warmth and enthusiasm of the evening were evident, with many Companions requesting application paperwork to join this altruistic and inspiring Order.
