Perseverance Preceptory No. 218 – Installation Meeting
On the evening of 16th April, the Knights of Perseverance Preceptory No. 218 assembled in Kettering for their annual Installation meeting, a significant and well-attended occasion within the Preceptory calendar. The proceedings marked the Installation of Eminent Knight Robert Civil as Eminent Preceptor, and were conducted with dignity, precision, and a strong sense of tradition.
The meeting commenced with the ceremonial entrance of the acting Eminent Preceptor, E.Kt. Kevin Williams, who processed into the Preceptory under an impressive Arch of Steel formed by members of the Provincial Priors Bodyguard. This striking display set the tone for the evening, reflecting both the pageantry and solemnity of the Order.
The Preceptory was then opened in due and ancient form. Following this, the Bodyguard Commander, E.Kt. Lee Freeman, announced and requested the admission of E.Kt. Stephen Wood, Provincial Vice Chancellor, who attended as the official representative of the Provincial Prior. E.Kt. Wood entered the Preceptory beneath a second Arch of Steel and was warmly received and welcomed by the Eminent Preceptor.
The regular business of the Preceptory was then transacted efficiently, after which the main purpose of the evening was addressed. E.Kt. Robert Civil was formally presented for Installation by the Marshal, E.Kt. Neil Matthew. The Installation ceremony, conducted in accordance with ancient custom and established ritual, was performed with clarity, dignity, and evident care, reflecting great credit on all those involved in its delivery.
Following his Installation, Eminent Preceptor Civil proceeded to appoint and invest his officers for the ensuing year. Each appointment was carried out with due formality, and the officers took their respective positions in support of the new Preceptor.
The Preceptory was subsequently closed and reopened in the Malta Degree, whereupon the Installation of the Eminent Prior was undertaken. This ceremony, together with the investment of his officers, was conducted smoothly and with commendable efficiency, maintaining the high standard established throughout the evening.
The formal proceedings concluded, the Knights retired to the Festive Board, where they enjoyed an excellent meal in an atmosphere of warmth, camaraderie, and good fellowship. The spirit of brotherhood was clearly evident, and the occasion provided a fitting conclusion to a memorable and successful Installation meeting of Perseverance Preceptory No. 218.
